Paramedic - County of Allendale
FUNCTION Provide routine and life-saving Paramedic level care to the citizens of Allendale County as directed per written protocols established by the Medical Control physician of the Allendale County Rescue Squad (ACRS) and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Division of Emergency Medical Services (DHEC). Active membership with the Allendale County Rescue Squad is preferred, but not required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES ∙ Oversees the preparation of required reports and documentation for the Allendale County Emergency Medical Service ∙ Prepare and oversee the preparation of required reports and documentation per local, Regional, state, and federal regulations; ∙ Keep immediate supervisor(s) fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present or potential problems and suggestions for correcting or eliminating said problem(s); ∙ Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as directed by superiors to remain current on the principles, practices and new developments associated with Emergency Medical Services.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ∙ Comprehensive knowledge of Emergency Medical Services operations and communication systems; ∙ Comprehensive knowledge of Allendale County emergency resources and programs; ∙ Comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal government organization(s) management practices relating to Emergency Medical Services; ∙ Ability to communicate well with elected and appointed local, state, and federal officials orally, written, or electronically using both technical and plain English dialog. ∙ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with fellow employees, managers and the citizens of Allendale County; ∙ Ability to deal with a wide variety of Emergency Medical Service with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines and emergencies, including lifethreatening situations; ∙ Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions; ∙ Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE ∙ Current South Carolina Paramedic certification required, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Paramedic is preferred. Failure to maintain a Paramedic level certification will result in loss of title and possible termination. ∙ Maintain a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider card(s). An instructor card in BLS and ACLS is preferred; ∙ Maintain a valid South Carolina driver license
